Help For Screenwriters

by Jozette Aaron

There are a lot of interesting web sites offering help for screenwriters. One site, Screenwriters 101, offers a complete book with a step-by-step tutrorial to help you write your script. If you need help, have a look at the information offered at www.screenwriting.about.com/arts/screenwriting.

If you are looking for a discussion forum to help you develop your plots, join about.com at the above web site. It offers you the option of emailing the information to yourself to keep in a folder for reference.

Do you want to know what a slug line is? How about the rules for formatting your screenplay? Then visit www.screenstyle.com/screenstyle/howtoforscre.html for more information. You will learn about two recommended books, must-haves for screenwriters: The Elements Of Style, which is referred to as the Screenwriter's Bible, and The Screenwriter's Toolbox. This book contains information about action lines, fade in/fade out, characters, dialogue, and more. There is an order option for both books at the bottom of the page.

Just for fun, have a peek at The Academy Of Motion Pictures And Sciences at www.oscars.org. Other web sites that may be useful are the following: www.writers.com, and www.creativescreenwriting.com.
