Teens Against Drugs Providing Opportunities, Leadership, Education Services

Central Elementary School has an active "Safe and Drug Free Schools" Team who sponsors two very special sixth graders each year.  These students educate their peers, our staff and local community members on how to live healthy lifestyles without drug and alcohol use.

2006-2007 TADPOLES are Bryant L. and Whitney N.

The "Safe and Drug Free Schools" Task Force purchased four Here's Looking At You 2000 curriculum kits.  The kits are currently being used in the Kindergarten, First, Second, Fourth and Sixth grades.  These kits help students learn to make smart choices while building the self-confidence needed to make those decisions.

We also teach "Get Real About Violence" curriculum in Grades 3 and 5.  These kits will help young children learn to make the correct choices when confronted with conflict.

Adult sponsors at the elementary level are Sheryl Clower, Carol Kill, Gaye Mackey, Christen Rierson, and Judy Shore, teachers; and Marian Hedges, elementary principal.

Planned activities for the 2006 - 2007 school year include Red Ribbon Week, the Great American Smoke Out, and Mix It Up at Lunch Day.
