With the help and direction of Maureen Moore, the Third Grade class has been selected to receive a grant from LEGACY, a Regional Community Foundation, through funding from the Kansas Health Foundation. This grant will establish a new reading program, T.R.E.E., Together Reading Enriches Everyone, which will provide a set of books for the classroom as well as a book from the same series for each child. Community volunteers are being asked to implement T.R.E.E. by mentoring the children in the classroom. The books purchased by LEGACY will be used to help develop better reading skills and to encourage children to become life long readers. We are very excited to have been selected to participate in this grant and would like to thank everyone involved in putting this program in place.
