News Join us in Welcoming Our Newest Employee
We are excited to introduce our newest employee, Cole Richardson, who has joined the SKT team as a Customer Systems Engineer. Cole brings a wealth of knowledge to SKT, with a strong background in electrical, telecommunications, and fiber optics systems. He will be based in Clearwater, fulfilling installation and repair needs for SKT customers in the Clearwater, Belle Plaine, and surrounding areas.
Cole Parker Richardson grew up in Augusta, Kansas, the youngest of four children. He has an older brother and two older sisters. At the age of 14, he started serving as a junior firefighter, and has served on the Augusta Volunteer Fire Department. He actually went to school with the goal of making firefighting his career; however, while doing so, he was paying his way with electrical and telecommunications installation work. He never left that field – because he enjoys it so much! When asked what he especially likes about his job, he says he’s not afraid of heights and likes climbing poles, and enjoys splicing and working with fiber optics.
Cole is married to Olivia, who is originally from Sedgwick, Kansas, and they have a 17-month-old son, Oliver. Cole lights up when asked how he spends his spare time – because he says he loves spending it with Oliver! Cole and Olivia just bought their first home in Wichita, where he can be closer to work.
Cole likes the color red and Logan Mize’s music; his two favorite movies are “Top Gun” and “8 Seconds.” That last detail leads right into one of his major passions, which is bull riding. He rode his first bull (for the full 8 seconds, mind you) when he was in the eighth grade and hasn’t looked back. When he was a junior in high school, he took his riding career to the next level and began riding bulls in the Central Plains Rodeo Association, Kansas Professional Rodeo Association, LJ Jenkins Bull Tour, and PBR-sanctioned events. He also rides bulls occasionally at Club Rodeo in Wichita, Kansas. Some other hobbies Cole enjoys doing on the side are hunting and fishing, and he adds, “I also love to golf!”
Cole likes the small-town feeling of Clearwater, where everyone seems to know everyone, and he is really liking his new job at SKT. He says, “So far, it’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. It’s a family business and I am treated well … it’s a place I can call home, and I plan to be here the rest of my life.” Join us in welcoming Cole Richardson to the SKT family. We are glad to call him one of our own.
