News Power Cycling Your Equipment

Ever notice that your wireless Internet seems to be running slower than normal? In order to keep your wireless network running as it should, we suggest that you power-cycle your Internet equipment once per month. Just like computers and other electronic devices, modems and routers need to be routinely power-cycled in order for them to perform up to their maximum potential. The following should always be used as the first steps in troubleshooting Internet speed issues.

To power-cycle your modem and router:

  1. Pull the black power cords out of your modem and router. (All lights will go off.) If they do not go off, please call SKT at 620.584.2255 or 888.758.8976 for additional assistance.
  2. Plug in the modem (Arris/Comtrend/Motorola/Pannaway) and wait for the lights to come back on (1-3 minutes).
  3. Plug in the router (Linksys/Asus/D-Link/Netgear) and wait for the light to come on (1-2 minutes).
  4. Reboot your computer and/or other devices and try your Internet connection.

In most cases, a power-cycle will resolve any issues you are having, but if you find that you are still experiencing issues, please call SKT Internet Support at 800.968.1855 or SKT Customer Care at 888.758.8976. We want you to have the best Internet experience possible!
