News Get To Know Matt Tatum, SKT Customer Systems Engineer
He’s the firstborn child in his family – but just by a little bit of time! Matthew Neill Tatum was born on December 17, 1985, at William Newton Hospital in Winfield, Kansas. Matt’s fraternal twin brother, Josh, is the second-born, and they have a younger sister named Sarah.
Matt grew up on a farm north of Burden, Kansas, where his father, a full-time farmer, raises hogs, manages a cow/calf operation, and produces crops including corn, soybeans, milo, and wheat. Matt still helps on the farm at harvest and as needed.
Matt graduated from Central of Burden High School in 2004 and attended Butler County Community College. Shortly thereafter, he was hired by SKT. He is married to Sheila, a native of South Haven, Kansas, and they have a five-year-old son named Matik. Matt, Sheila, and Matik live on the outskirts of Burden, and Matt says of his son, “He goes with me everywhere – hunting, fishing, farming ….”
Matt is an avid hunter and fisherman who, along with his brother and three of their friends, submit their filmed hunts to Midwest Whitetail and Cabela’s Spring Thunder – Internet-based hunting shows. He finds time to serve his community as a volunteer fire fighter for Cowley County Fire District #3, and as a member of the USD #462 Board of Education. Matt also belongs to the Clinton Lodge #233 of the Freemasons in Burden.
As an SKT Customer Systems Engineer, Matt takes good care of the phone, Internet, and Cable TV services for the exchanges of Atlanta, Latham, Burden, Cambridge, Grenola, Dexter, and Cedar Vale. In addition, he oversees SKT’s security services, and he is a fiber splicer!
It’s been said, “A picture is worth a thousand words,” so we’re including three … and we’re so glad to get to serve alongside Matt Tatum, SKT Customer Systems Engineer.
