News Clearwater FTTP Project Update — May 8, 2017
It’s May 8, 2017, and we have a couple of photos to share, along with a short update on bringing Fiber to the Premises to the City of Clearwater: All of the interduct in Phase 1 has been placed!
All of the mainline fiber, except for two pieces in Park Glen, have been pulled in. All of the Phase 1 mainline fiber was finished last week.
Over 90 percent of the fiber drops in Park Glen have been placed, and approximately 40 percent of the drops in Phase 1 are complete, with crews continuing work on those until they’re finished.
This week, Wichita Electric Company (WEC) has brought in their fiber splicers who will begin splicing mainline and drops in Phase 1. In addition, WEC began moving their mainline construction into Phase 2 this week — focusing on the area between Lee and Tracy, and from Ross to Michelle Streets. When that’s finished, they will move west of Tracy and south of Ross.
Pictured is mainline fiber being pulled — on Park Street between Lee & Tracy. In the second picture, a crew is just finishing setting a pedestal in the far southwest corner of Park Glen. For more information on SKT’s Clearwater FTTP project, go to http://www.sktmainstreet.com/fiber-premises-fttp/.
