Three Podcasts: News, Foodies & Interesting Interviews

Podcasts just keep getting more popular. They’re free. They can be edgy, relevant, and rather refreshing in their unbiased quest for truth. In this era of isolation, we aren’t alone. Kindred spirits are everywhere – seeking to connect – and it’s likely there’s at least one podcaster out there who has your exact interests pegged – whether it’s history or mystery, the latest, curated news (The Daily), food (The Splendid Table), or an in-depth interview with a thinker/mover/shaker you might not otherwise ever get to know (Joe Rogan).

Filling commute timeselevating household chores, and adapting into adult bed-time stories, all you need to sample thousands of podcasts created around the world are:

  1. Internet access (Tip – connect to Wi-Fi to save your phone’s data.)
  2. A device such as a phone, tablet, or laptop.
  3. A podcast app or web browser.

Check out these podcasts to get you started:

Since its inception, it’s been at the forefront of food issues and policies. Long before “eating local” became a catchphrase and “farmers’ markets” became more widely accessibleThe Splendid Table was talking about the changes needed in the food system and what was happening at the grassroots level. The late Julia Child appeared on the program numerous times. The November 27, 2020, offering is “Discovering Thanksgiving with Four American Chefs.”

The Joe Rogan Experience

His long-form conversations are with comedians, actors, professors, musicians, MMA fighters, authors, artists, and more. In November 2020 alone, he has recorded 14 different segments – with the most recent an interview with Emily Harrington, rock climber and adventurer, who has scaled some of the world’s most formidable mountains including Mount Everest and is the first woman to free-climb El Capitan in Yosemite National Park in under 24 hours.
